for the purpose of forced labor or sexual exploitation.

Who is at risk?

 

Traffickers frequently prey on individuals who are poor, vulnerable, living in an unsafe situation, or are in search of a better life. –OVA

Vulnerable & Marginalized Groups:

  • History of sexual and/or physical abuse/trauma

  • Poverty

  • Runaway or homelessness

  • Foster care/child welfare involvement

  • Need for basics food and shelter

  • Gang involvement

  • Pre-teen/Teenagers

  • LGBTQ status

  • Refugee or immigrant status

  • Substance use disorder

  • Intellectual disability

  • Indigenous status –OVC
