Red Flags
Appearance
Poor physical health and signs of physical abuse
Clothing inconsistent with weather
Suspicious tattoos or traffickers initials, symbols associated with trafficking (crown, $, money bag, ATM, bar code)
Does not have personal identification
Controlling relationship/older “boyfriend” or “girlfriend”
Common victimization environments: Prostitution, Escort Services, Strip Clubs, Pornography Sites, Cyber Sex Sites, Truck Stops, Massage Parlors
Behavior
Sudden change in school attendance, social groups, demeanor or sexual behavior
Disconnection from family, friends and community
Lack of awareness of prior and current travel locations
History inconsistent with stories or findings
Lack of eye contact, coached responses
Frequent travel/unusual hotel activity
*Any person under 18 years old who is engaged in commercial sex acts, regardless of the use of force, fraud, or coercion, is a victim of human trafficking, even if they appear to consent to the commercial sex act. –OVC
